Frequently Asked Questions

Who can audition?
Auditions are open to performers of all ages and experience levels. We welcome seasoned performers as well as those new to the stage. There are principal, featured, and ensemble roles, all of which are valued parts of the production.

Do I need previous theater experience?
No prior experience is required. We welcome both first-time performers and experienced actors.

Will everyone who auditions be cast?
While we hope to include as many performers as possible, casting is based on the needs of the production.

Can I participate if I’m involved in another show or activity?
Possibly, as long as rehearsal commitments can be honored. Please disclose scheduling conflicts on your Google Form at auditions. Some conflicts may be workable, but consistent availability is important.

What is the rehearsal commitment?
Rehearsals will typically take place three to four times per week beginning in mid-May, with weekday evenings and afternoon or evening sessions on weekends. Time commitments will increase as we approach performances July 10–12. A detailed rehearsal calendar will be provided once casting is complete.

Where will rehearsals take place?
Rehearsals will take place in both San Luis Obispo and Atascadero, with rehearsals split fairly evenly between the two locations depending on the schedule.

When and where are the performances?
There will be three performances, taking place Friday through Sunday, July 10–12, at the Performing Arts Center’s Spanos Theatre in San Luis Obispo.

Is there a fee to be in the production?
No. There is no participation fee to be cast in the show. We do ask each cast member to make their best effort to support the production through sponsorships, donations, or other fundraising support.

Are roles paid?
No. This is a community theater production, and all roles are volunteer. Participation is unpaid and rooted in a shared love of storytelling, collaboration, and creating meaningful theater together.

What are cast members responsible for?
While there is no fee to participate, performers may be asked to provide basic rehearsal attire, shoes, or certain personal costume items when applicable. We strive to keep expenses minimal.

What makes this production unique?
Our productions combine high artistic standards with a supportive and collaborative environment focused on creativity, learning, and community.
